L’Empire des lumières...

Mon Sep 28, 2009, 9:53 AM
Before everything, I am sorry for my long period of inactivity on deviantArt. I was terribly busy this month, but I hope that I would have some time to give answers to some messages (typically, saying “Thanks” to my recent watchers). But to be honest, until December, I will not have too much time, sorry. Nonetheless I will try to connect myself on dA every week-end, if I can...

And now let start the main subject of my Journal. Some of you probably notice that I made a recent poll [link] on HDR photography. Even if I am known here for my tickling pictures, I have often took the opportunity that dA exposes different form of art to show some of my non-anthropomorphic art (like the panorama picture or the fractal art you could see in my gallery). This time, I would like to present some experiment I made recently with the software Enfuse [link]

The idea, is to get read of saturation in over (or under) illuminated area of the image. The solution is quite simple: you should take photos with different exposure time (cf. the image given as an illustration in this Journal Entry). Of course, only a camera with a manual mode could provide such images (some of them could be expensive, I admit it). It is also better to have a tripod (or image matching software). Then you have two main possibilities. First, you could try to estimate the dynamic of the image in a physical way, using the method developed by Debevec: [link] (understanding the paper doesn’t require too much knowledge in physic and the idea is quite simple). The other way is to blend only the “interesting” parts of the image as proposed in this paper [link] (you are not obliged to read all the equation you don’t want to).

If you have picture with different exposure time and you wish to test the method, I may suggest you to look at this user interface: [link] and you don’t need to be a geek spending your time between programming and taking pictures to know how to use the very intuitive interface.

I don’t believe that many people would be interested by this Journal Entry but who knows?... ;p

PS: I apologize for delay on the Kiriban pictures I owe to :iconrustysteele: and :icondellidiot: I hope they would be comprehensive.

PPS: I will not stop drawing tickling pictures, I reassure you. I am just taking a little break (some of you would say that I was already taking a long break before this Journal Entry).

19th Journal Entry

Again another useless journal entry... Tomorrow I go far from civilisation for a week (as I already did last year: [link] ). I don't forget my kiriban's winners, I will answer to you as soon as I can when I come back. Sorry for the delay.

22222 Pageviews Kiriban ?

Tue Jun 23, 2009, 2:40 PM
The idea is quite simple: if you are the 22222nd visitor of my deviantArt page, make a screenshot, post it in your scraps gallery on dA and then tell me that you are the 22222nd one... You will have my best regard*.
